Finance client

Technology Infrastructure Modernization

overview

As a UX Designer, I was brought on to help the client modernize their technology infrastructure to enhance security, optimize tools, streamline operations, and improve scalability. After reaching key milestones, the client transitioned the project to their internal team, with a go-live date planned for 2025.

I collaborated with three department teams, working with stakeholders, end users, and subject matter experts to update key areas of their member platform. Additionally, I worked with UX/UI designers, developers, and engineers on the Core Principal and Design Systems team to ensure a cohesive user experience, aligning design principles with technical execution.

As a member of the Design Systems Team, my responsibilities included…

  • Designing, documenting, and maintaining a scalable, reusable design system that ensured consistency and efficiency across multiple products and teams

  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional partners (such as developers, product managers, and QA) to implement and refine design components in code

  • Creating comprehensive usage guidelines, interaction patterns, and component documentation to support both designers and engineers in building cohesive user experiences

  • Conducting audits and usability reviews to identify gaps, redundancies, or inconsistencies within the existing UI library

  • Embedding accessibility principles into all components by integrating WCAG 2.1 AA standards, conducting regular accessibility testing, and advocating for inclusive design practices

  • Contributing to the evolution of the system’s visual language and design tokens to support brand alignment and scalability

  • Supporting adoption and onboarding across teams by creating training resources, hosting office hours, and facilitating feedback loops to improve the system

the challenge

The end goal was modernizing a Financial Clearing Platform to address the complexity of its existing workflows and legacy system constraints while meeting the diverse needs of its users. The challenge included ensuring compliance with strict regulatory requirements, integrating modern technologies without disrupting ongoing operations, and maintaining user trust through clear and secure interactions.

the solution

By collaborating within an Agile methodology, I created intuitive, user-centered solutions for complex workflows. I collaborated closely with diverse stakeholders, including market participants and internal teams, to understand their unique needs while addressing legacy system constraints. My focus was on simplifying intricate processes, ensuring accessibility across devices, and fostering trust through clear, secure interactions. By aligning with regulatory requirements and integrating modern technologies seamlessly, I helped deliver a streamlined, scalable platform that elevated the user experience without disrupting existing operations.

the results

This project is scheduled to go live later in 2025. This new modernized platform will optimize operations, strengthen risk management capabilities, and implement a robust data management system to better support members and market participants.
